Opel has left fans very excited after sharing the first images of what the next generation of the Astra will look like.

According to Opel, the Astra 2026 will be “more eye-catching, more technological and, in every aspect, brighter than ever.” From the images—though slightly blurred—it is possible to see some of the new features that will be introduced with the new car.

Among them is the new Vizor, a grille that merges with the headlights at the front of the car. It is speculated that it was inspired by the look of the Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo. In addition, for the first time in Astra’s history, the lightning bolt in the Opel logo will be illuminated, a feature introduced on the Grandland SUV.

Under the hood, Opel is still keeping the details a mystery. The current generation of the Astra, introduced in 2022, is sold in Europe with several configurations: a 130 hp gasoline engine, a 145 hp mild hybrid, two plug-in hybrid options with 195 and 225 hp, a 130 hp diesel, and a 100% electric motor with 156 hp.

While the released images serve as a teaser to excite fans ahead of the future launch, Florian Huettl, CEO of Opel, has already announced that more updates about the Astra 2026 will be revealed soon.

“Astra has represented what Opel stands for for decades: German engineering combining emotion with proven practicality and cutting-edge technology for everyone,” Huettl said.
